Congratulations to Kae Fong in Reaching Mount K Summit!

6am … funny I start my blog like the 1st song from the new Marilyn Manson album … oh where was I? Yes. Yesterday, I have received a text message from my buddy Kae Fong telling me that he and his friend have reached the Laban Rata Hut safely. 6am … this morning, I have received another message saying that they have reached the summit of Mount Kinabalu! Hooray! I have been to one training session with Kae Fong and I knew he can do it (not only because his legs are relatively longer than most people around him). He trains ten times harder than Cynthia, Tong Kiat, and I combined. Can’t wait for him to get back to Singapore and hear the stories.

Talking about Mount K, we have still yet to publish our journals. The next day after we have returned to Singapore, Cynthia has completed her journal. I have completed mine a week later. And we are still waiting for Tong Kiat to complete his. But he is not really a writer. Don’t get me wrong. He can churn out thousands lines of codes that are further compiled into millions of ones and zeroes that do the most wonderful thing in the world such as estimating the bus arrival time via satellite coordinates but when it comes to writing English …

So I have a new idea. Actually my friend GS’s text message this morning gave birth of this new idea of mine. One of her friends is heading to Mount K soon and she asked if I can recommend any stores that sell trekking gears. Tong Kiat was the one who brought us for gear shopping so I am going to liberate him from the nightmare of journal writing and instead, contribute an article on “Where To Get Your Gears Before Heading To Mt. K”.

Okay. I can’t wait to see Tong Kiat’s reaction when I ask him to write an article … with the pictures of the shops. Too bad. I don’t think it is possible for him to write a computer program to churn out what I want. Not yet that is.

What Happens When Happy People Jog?

Cythia's back!

Today is Friday so let’s do something light, shall we? And let’s take a break from all the serious serious reviews.

So, what happens when happy people jog? Answer: You can certainly see their happy smiles from the back! That’s right. When Cynthia returned from her jogging one evening, I was shocked by what I have seen behind her. I quickly grabbed my camera phone, asked her to stand still, and took a picture. When I showed Cynthia what I saw from her back, she could not stop laughing. Happy people eh?

To those friends who have asked how I have been because my blog has been quiet lately, well, thank you for thinking of me. There is a certain dry spell on my pool of inspiration and interestingly, from past history, these are the months that I do not usually have any artistic outputs such as songwriting. On top of that I am stuck with a book I wish to finish fast so that I can do another book review and I have also got stuck with one music review blog that I am still thinking of how to write.

Well then, a quick update from me and wishing you all a happy weekend!

Wow … This Lady is Hardworking

7pm, my friend dropped me back in the office area after a tender presentation. I had my dinner and remembered that I need to buy some bathroom stuffs (thanks to the writings on my palm … literally). Picked up my stuffs and proceeded to counter. I greeted the shop assistance and not sure if she is sociable or I was extremely sociable today, this mid 40 years old lady told me that her work starts at 9 in the morning and finishes at about 9 at night. That is 12 hours everyday. And then, she told me that she is actually working on two jobs – a legal firm by day and at Guardians by night. That is pretty inspiring. And she looks so happy and told me that her night job is not so demanding as though she is enjoy it. That is the amazing part.

Someone I Met Who Has Mugenized His White Civic

As I was shopping for the solar panel of my black Civic, I was referred to a salesman in a roadshow who drives a Civic as well (his is white). Instead of selling me the solar panel, we spent like half an hour talking about what modification can be done to Civic and there is an online community that not only discusses about bulk purchase of parts but the members also meet every month to literally share knowledge on what are the hot mods out there. This salesman was so enthusiastic about the car that he took me to Golden Shoe Car Park and showcased all the wonderful things he has done to his car … so far.

As seen from the photos, clockwise from top right-hand corner, (1) a Mugen sticker to the front of the car, (2) all the Mugen stickers underneath the bonnet, (3) a really cool looking rain breaker with some special whirly pattern (you can’t see it but you just have to take my word for it), (4) metal plates for the foot petals (note: manual car), (5) a “Si” sticker instead of the usual “2.0” sticker, and (6) light weighted nuts (he knows exactly how heavy the original nuts are in kg) for the wheels together with the red brakes to go with. What I did not photograph was the boot of the car that revealed 2 powerful amplifier and an extra woofer.

PS. “Mugen” is a famous Honda modification.
PS. Photos taken by my Nokia N80 phone.

A Weekend Full Of Online Chat

What a weekend !  A weekend without daylight.  The chat line is very additive.  I just hooked onto it for hours.  So ended up going to sleep at 7 in the morning and woke up not seeing the daylight.

First night I logged in as “New Wilf 97”, toured around and nothing really fantastic.  Second night I logged in as “Etoile 97” and that caught most attention from the French (as Etoile means star in French).  I intended to hide my sex and see what happened.  Guess what, most of them thought I am a lady !  Glad to talk to the French about Mylene Farmer and they told me that she is a bisexual.  Doesn’t bother me really.  And my favorite topic of that night was relationship.  One guy told me that he worked in a pub before and met this waitress in the same pub.  I guess they kissed but according to him, still not sure.  So I gave advice like go shopping with her, buy flower and so on.  In the end, he was certain that I was a “she” and I didn’t tell him in the end. (Note : few weeks later as I chatted with him again, he managed to get more attention from her.  Thanks to me!)

And I was chatting with someone called “Paris”.  In fact on that night, I dined in Planet Hollywood and coincidentally he was one of the waiter.  He is from UK and we chatted quiet a fair bit.  Talking about long legs waitress in Planet Hollywood and so on.

And the most fun was last night in which in nicknamed as “GoodBoy”.  In the room of “Mr/Ms Right”, I chatted with an American girl named “Lilly”, a British called “Tugger” and a New Zealand guy called “Alan”.  It was so much fun and I missed them all.  I called Tugger Fish & Chips and called Alan, Kiwi.  Our topic ranged from movies to music to cycling to books to relationship.  Tugger told me that he is divorcing and I asked how come.  He told me that he and his ex-wife were very good friend and they marred for the wrong reason.  I asked, “Child ?” and he said yes.  But he felt a long better now and still go out with he ex as good friends.  Hard to believe, isn’t it ?
