Avril Lavigne Best Damn Tour (Singapore) – Pure Girl Power, An Entertaining Evening

An awesome performance, this girl can rock, plays guitar and piano, executes a somersault on stage, groves with her dancers, and believe it or not, she had a go with the drums.  101% high in entertainment value, Avril has grown so much since the day we watched her performed in SunTech.

I can certainly see how the change in the band lineup has affected the music arrangement in a positive way.  No longer does she sing the album as it is, the crowd loved it, and so was I.  Three albums under her belt, the concert was packed with familiar tunes that the (female) audience can sing with (her key is way above what normal male species can reach).

Is one and a half hour concert a bit too short?  Certainly it is for me.  Time didn’t passed, it vanished.  Before I knew it, the concert was ended.  Gosh, I can’t wait for Avril’s next tour.  If that music video played during the concert is one of her upcoming singles, perhaps her new album is round the corner.

Avril loves to hold her fist up in the air.  This is pure girl power I am tell ya.  I am happy that I have chanced upon her first album since day one of her career.  From complicated to the best damn thing, this young artist has done her home country (Canada) proud, for sure.

PS: Sorry for the lousy photos.  I wish I had a gigantic telephoto lens the dude at my row has.

Ouyangbo – Ha ha ha, I know what you mean. I guess with or without that opening act by that band, Avril would only start the concert after 9pm – like all the concerts I have been so far. I mean … why don’t concerts start on time?

haha the photos are not lousy lah! Anyway, glad you had fun. I’ve never experienced a rock concert! (or anything “harder” than classical music) I want to try moshing!!

I’m a big Avril fan but i thought the concert was a little rushed and certainly not the best damn concert I’ve seen (i’m 31 and seen many concerts in my lifetime). I think something went wrong back stage and that’s why the show started at 910pm, late by superstar standards. She looked great but most of the songs where shortened, incl my favourite Runaway. there was no encore and she didnt sing some hits like Keep Holding On, Tomorrow, Fall to Pieces etc. The crowd went a little quiet in the end and many didnt know the words to her songs, incl favourites like Complicated, I’m With You etc. could be a reason why she didnt want an encore. I for one, will be buying the concert DVD. It’s shot in Toronto and should be better! Always a fan!

hey wilfred, saw you dropped off at my blog 🙂 yes, the poem is mine… no copy right on that!
was reading some more of your posts, man! you just flow!!

ECL – My point-and-shoot camera I used. I think DSLR will yield a much better result!

Yes, there was some dance acts and 987 DJs Muttons were there to open the act. The dance was pretty good. The band, I think the audience was giving them a hard time … hahaha.

Degenerate – Hmmm … For the Muse concert, they started at 8.45pm and finished after 1 hour and 15 minutes. The duration is somewhat like Avril’s concert if not shorter.

Maybe just my luck …

Certainly looking forward to her concert DVD shot in her home country. The fans would be crazy over there I think.

I was there at the show!!! that was really awesome!!!! but the show was really short and i was expected to be longer …. anyway! that was great and can’t wait to see another tour of Avril…

Hey … I was at the concert too… I love Avril songs and enjoy the concert…any ideas of the name of the opening unknown pop band?

Olivia – I just bought the Avril concert DVD today recorded when she was in Canada. Apparently it also only lasted for 75 minutes. So I guess it is her standard duration?

the opening act totally sucked.to the very core of my existence.everyone was screaming at them to go home but they didnt get a hint..still dared to sing 7 songs so smugly!EEW !
the dance group was awesome,though

Melissa – The dance group was pretty good. Maybe I have watched too many “So You Think You Can Dance” episodes so there seems to be a certain gap … ha ha ha.

To apply the same standard, I think the opening band is pretty OK given how hard it is to be perceived to stand between the audience and the start of the show – which I guess they did not. There was quite a time gap between their performance and Avril’s performance and I actually thought that any entertainment would be good to fill that gap.

Just my thought 🙂

Rek – Hiya, thanks for dropping by.

My humble personal take is that I do like the songs. I think some of them are pretty well crafted. Probably if there was a better and more genuine stage presence, that would be better?

By the way, in the last song, I thought I heard “You Suck”. Did I hear correctly?

could I have the lyrics to those songs you sing in the concert…

Is noisy… and I cant really catch what u will singing…

I do like the beat…

Hi Wilfrid,
Yep you are right it was “You Suck” the title of that song is Amanda Sucks. It is not aimed at anybody by the name of Amanda however, its aimed at those that make life tough for you, so yep those people are personified with the name Amanda.. Thank you for both your sincere compliments and opinions of what we can do to be better. We will certainly take it into play.

To Yilei,
Sure Ill get it up on our website for you =)

Hi Melissa,
Thank you for your honest opinion of us. I am utterly sorry you are unable to appreciate our band and music and We do apologize for that. The crowd wanted us to go home cause lets face it they were there to see Avril not a local band. But to clear up the misconception that many have about us taking up much of concert time, we were told to play for 25 min. As you probably would also realize that no matter what the concert would have started at 9.10pm no matter what. Also it wasn’t the crowd, it was only a handful. A mere 1-2 percent of the 8000 strong crowd.

Sorry Wilfrid for taking up your comment board. For any comments do take it to us at http://www.pervyboyrocks.blogspot.com

Warmest Regards
Derek (Rek)

Rek – Hey, no worries. Feel free to type stuff here. You are welcome.

So it is really “You Suck” eh? I must say I was a bit shocked when I heard that … ha ha ha. Cynthia and I were like … huh … why we suck?!

Anyway, personally I do admire that you made it out there. Good experience for you guys. Keep rocking and keep improving!

Jing Lin – Thanks for the heads up! I will certainly keep a look out for her upcoming album. I have not checked out the DVD yet, though I have bought it ages ago … ha ha ha

Hahahaha. Oh yea, latest news was that she split up with Deryck!
Met at 17, dated at 19, married at 21. 3 years of marriage, and now they are separated. Sigh.. But, they are moving on on a positive note. Her fourth album would be out early 2010. It would be less pop, more acoustic and mellow! CANT WAIT!! :DD
Hahaha. She is cutting away tracks that Deryck helped her, which is 8/9, so the album would be out next year. Hahaha,

Jing Lin – Guess what? I still haven’t watched the live DVD yet!

Oh no, they are separated? How sad 🙁

Again, thanks for the news link. I so look forward to her new album. I wonder what she would sing about this time.
