I remember vividly the first time I saw the words “Massive Jam” lit up on the highway signboard. I was driving on the northbound CTE (in Singapore), on a rainy evening, quite a number of years ago. One tree fell onto the highway that forced all the vehicles to exit at Ang Mo Kio. Imagine four or five lanes of traffic squeezed into one exit. Not pretty. And since then, no jam felt as massive as that mother of all massive jam. At times I try my luck, enter the highway despite seeing the “Massive Jam” warning sign and it turns out to be just another heavy traffic condition. Nothing massive. At times, it is like yesterday morning, when I have to spend more than an hour covering perhaps 10 km on the CTE highway.
2 incidents in 2 different segments of the highway. I suppose it must be pretty major judging at the amount of debris on the road (no pool of blood, thank God). One time, I was inside a lift and one foreigner said to another foreigner after showing him a – I suppose – gruesome image of an accident using his phone, “I wonder why such a small island can have so many road accidents.”
I too wonder why.

Wilfrid, I really like those drawings. How did you create them? Many times I run out of pictures and wished I could just draw but didn’t know how to.
Heyzanie – Thanks! I am happy that some turn out OK. Initially I thought I am just a little bit … erm … old to doodle. But it helps when I can’t find the photo. And certainly opens up new possibilities to blogging style.
I am a very low tech man. Don’t laugh OK? I draw the picture onto a piece of A4 paper. Then I take a photo and process it on the computer. That’s all. If you have a scanner, I guess it would be much easier. And if you have the proficiency to use those pen-pad device for profession digital art drawing, that would be the best. Hope this helps.
Wow! I must say your low tech approach that turned out looking very high tech!
Heehee…now dun laugh at me ok? I have a pen pad device but I dunno how to use it. Now who is really low tech? Hahahaha…
Heyzanie – Wow, you have one of those devices?! One day you ought to show me what can you do with it. You can use it to write Chinese too right?
Nah. People often joke with me that I like to complicate matters and do things the hard way. I wish I have a scanner though.
Yes, but I dunno how to use it besides scribbling words and drawing circles on Paint!
U dun have a scanner? Wow….it’s real cheap these days. Get a HP PSC, it’s S$100+/- these days I think?
P.s. Click click! ;D
i thought u draw using the paint program! hehe
Si Ying – Ha ha ha, long time ago I tried painting using the computer like the paint program. And I failed miserably. I still prefer pen-and-paper, lol.
hehe u like drawing this! and i think the drawings are getting more interesting each day =)
Si Ying – It seems that I suddenly tired of writing words and let the picture speaks! Ha ha ha. Erm, the drawings appear to get more interesting each day is purely coincidence. Let’s see how the stick people will evolve to!
Yeah i think its nice exploring different ways to express our thoughts…
Si Ying – Partly inspired by you too I must admit. You like to make things by your hands and post them to your site 🙂
Woo haha i am happy to hear that. Mine’s a bit random such that when I tried to find a theme/format/name to the things I draw I couldnt. Lets keep trying diff things and inspire each other 😉
Heyzanie – Hehehe, your link works on my site! I see that.
It is the size of the scanner I cannot afford. My home is really tiny, unfortunately. Besides, I have no clue how long this doodle craze will continue … lol.
Si Ying – Well, randomness is good. Maybe having a theme is good. Maybe it is not necessary. Sure thing. Let’s keep the inspirational sparkle on!
Oh I was trying (very hard) to set up another site for putting up my designs (and maybe make a sale from it? haha). And the site should have some sort of designs (rather than a pretty much “design-less” blog of mine). I dont understand those html codings!. I was thinking of trying out using photoshop & dreamweaver but then again maybe I will settle with having a background designed by me and just a simple toolbar on the top (that sounds tough alr). So I need a name to this site and haha i cant think of a name suitable. so far i thought of “kiss a rainbow” (cos my stuff tends to be colourful) or perhaps “random rainbow” (to describe the randomness?) haha
Si Ying – Question for you. Why would you want a separate website? I mean, these are still your designs and that could be your “brand”. As in you probably don’t need another branding. Besides, when people get to read more about who you are, they probably can relate to what the art is about?
Just my humble thoughts 🙂
Or you could get completely out from Blogger.com and head to somewhere. If you like some simple web page designs, you may wish to check out http://www.SquareSpace.com. It seems that it is getting more popular and it is very easy to work with the template. You can just sign up and try 🙂
Yes, you seems to love colors a lot. How about Death by Rainbow? Ha ha ha, probably not.
Hmm the thought of having another website was because it would be a better platform if eventually I can start selling the designs? I will still continue to share the designs on my blog, jus that it couldnt display all the designs or say faciliate selling..?
Ya getting out of blogger is easier though I wanted something “more me”. So I might jus want a simple template and still try to incorporate my design into the site design somehow. Ok I will go take a look at the website, thanks!
Haha yes. Sometimes I think I am too colourful, esp when it comes to say office wear? I try to tone down now.. haha yeah probably something less saddening than death
Si Ying – Hmmm … entirely personal choice. I would have a “gallery” in my website if one day I wish to sell something that I create.
Ya ya … that was just a joke … lol. I think the idea must have come from “Death by Chocolate” – just to say how great it is. Not a connotation to the actual death, I think.
Yeah I think thats another option as well 🙂 I shall give it a serious thought and find some way out soon! I suddenly thought if I would to have a “gallery” on my blog it means i dont necessarily need a “name” for those collections!
Ohh I thought it was a play of words with death contrasting rainbow 🙂
Si Ying – There you go! Gallery it is then.
Good luck with choosing the name! The most exciting part of starting a website 🙂
Yeah haha! Then its down to only “finding a html line to create that link to a separate page”!
Yeah I think thats fun even though I dont seem to have the creative juice to think of something now. Maybe the weekend!
Si Ying – Hmmm … not sure how you can do that in Blogger.com. You may need to move out to a new site that gives you more flexibility.
Ya, weekend is good for the generation of ideas. And it is just round the corner!
Ohh! Ok some considerations to do there
Yap, again cant wait for it to come!
Si Ying – Ha ha ha … tomorrow is Friday! Just hang in there!
Cute doodling!
Darkspore – Thanks!
heh this picture is so cute!
we have so many accidents because everyone is selfish and rude on the roads!
i missed my turning to the expressway just last week because of a couple of people who were selfish (didn’t want to give way even though i signaled for a long time) and were inconsiderate drivers (was going to turn right from outer lane and someone cut in front of me and i almost hit into him.)
everytime i pass by an accident scene, i would ask myself if these people should be heavily fined for having caused so much inconvenience to us all!
but then again, i have been in a major accident before so….. hmmmmmm!
G – Hehehe … maybe I shall make a black T-shirt out of this little car eh?
Ya, somehow Singaporean drivers do lots of crazy things on the road. Sorry to hear that you couldn’t exit in time. At times I see another extreme while a car on the fast lane suddenly decides to cut all the way to the exit causing all the cars to jam brake. Or like recently, a taxi driver just jam brake in front of the ERP gantry.
I also find some drivers are not considerate to the pedestrians who are crossing the road too.
I don’t know. Just too many road incidents. I have lived in quite a few places – big and small. Singapore is truly unique.
hmm… when you said that you just draw the picture onto a piece of A4 paper. Then take a photo and process it on the computer…. I have the feeling that the ‘processing on computer’ is not that easy… hehe 😛
Still I like the drawing… 😉
Lora – Oh, in most cases, it is just a simple convert to black and white and then flip the color around. That’s all. OK, there is one that I do some copy-and-paste.
The tough part is to practice on the drawing because I cannot make mistakes. It is a “one take”.
