Priceless – Fans Of Audrey Tautou Rejoice!

I am a huge fan of the French actress Audrey Tautou, ain’t no shame in it. Captivated by her award-winning French film “Amélie”, I try to follow her career in as much as I can. Like “The Spanish Apartment” and its follow-up “The Russian Dolls” as one of the characters in a romance drama between a group of friends with different nationalities, like “Pretty Dirty Things” as a lowly paid Turkish Muslim girl who works under a sexually predatory boss – one of the characters that portray what some of these immigrants have to live through, and like “A Very Long Engagement” – a romance drama that is dated back to World War I where imagination can become reality, worldwide viewers are mesmerized by not only her characteristic big eyes but also her fine acting. If you still don’t know who I am talking about, perhaps you may wish to recall the main actress played in “Da Vinci Code”. Yes, it was her – one of the French iconic figures known to the world.

I like “Priceless” because it is good to see Audrey Tautou finally took up a more “normal” role and have showed the world how mature, sexy, and seductive she can be – a side that I don’t recall seeing often on screen. “Priceless” is a romance comedy of a girl who preys on rich men for their money and a man who pretends to be one only to find out that this plan of his is not sustainable. You may call this a chick-flick but I have not seen one with so much acting in it. I am not sure how the female audience reacts but it is certainly a feast to my eyes to see Audrey Tautou dressed in top French branded fashion – from head to toe.

You may wish to watch the trailer from the film website though I feel that they have given out too much of the plot. Only take a look if you don’t mind the spoilers. Click here to access the film website.

Hi,

Do have other of her movie? i saw also all the film you saw, you could actually go to the library at esplande and see this (Voyous voyelles) Pretty devils DVD. It was actually thru much of her film that i was began to expose to the french movie. Some of it is pretty good.. however still alot of Singaporean doesn’t know about french film.

Her Recent Hunting and Gathering was also an awesome film, you saw that?

I have her almost first movie “Venus Beauty Institute” DVD. Do you have Happenstance? do you want to trade with me?

Ng – Yes, I think I vaguely remember “Hunting and Gathering”. I love all her works. I think I may have owned some of the DVDs but I seriously can’t recall where they are! The worst thing is, they are still unwrapped!

Woah, i can’t believe that you still have the DVD unwrapped. I still remember that when i first got my “Venus Beauty Institute” from the Amazon i popped it straight into the DVD player.

She got the Best New Actress award in French for this film. However, she did not have much show time, as she was just a supporting character.

Cheers mate, seem like we are the only 2 person in Singapore that enjoys her works!

Ng – I really should check out “Venus Beauty Institute”. I seriously don’t think I have it yet.

Audrey Tautou is such a talented actress. I am pretty sure that TK from our Movie Review Squad loves her works too. That makes the 3 of us!

Wilfrid, tell you what, i don’t mind sharing the film with you ( as you know it very hard to find Audrey Tautou’s fan in Singapore ).

We could share DVD with each other if you are comfortable with this idea. Either meet at some MRT or i could mail to you ( then, of course you mail back to me after viewing it la).

Pas sur la bouche, ( Not on the lips )
Le battement d’ailes du papillon, ( Happenstance ) and Baby Blue, these are the three films that i didn’t have a chance to see it yet.

Let me know about it.

Ng – Thanks for the offer! Let me dig up what I have. Nowadays kind of hard to find time to watch DVD … ha ha ha.

PS. I got your email address and have edited it out from your comment so that you won’t get too much spam from all these strange robots that crawl our Internet pages!

Ng – Hey, thanks for the link. Wow, I am so looking forward to this. She does look great in the poster, doesn’t she?

Can’t wait to watch that on big screen!

Yoz Wil, got a cool clip for you to view, i managed to get hold of this short film made in Fench starring none other than our fav Audrey Tautou. If you have enough patience for it to load, go check here.
I also can’t wait to go back tonight to watch a reserved DVD Pas sur la bouche, “Not on the Lips” ( the library finally find it after i request for three week, so much for their organizing ability ) This is a musical film, not sure whether i like it or not cause i not a big fan of musical theme film. However, there Tautou inside so should not be too bad la! haha!

Ng – Thanks for sharing! I will check out the clip tonight.

You borrow DVD from our library eh? I was used to pay for the yearly membership fees and after a while, I found that Esplanade library is a bit out of my way for regualar visit.

“Not on the Lips” seems to have an interesting story and good receptions from the reviewers. Perhaps I shall check it out too!

hEY Wil, Just some tips for you if you don’t intend to pay for the yearly membership!

1) Find the DVD in the Esplande Library
2) Cough up $11 dollar to book a Viewing Room for 2 hrs
3) Enjoy your movie!

The Library have a few viewing rm with large Plasma TV, they charge $5.50 an hour, great surround sound system, nice long Sofa and the whole room to yourself. Maybe you can goes together with TK ( so it will be CHEAPER, ha ha! )

Well, after viewing the “Not on My Lips”, i still can’t stand musical show, i thought my mind will change because Audrey Tautou is in the movie. I just can’t don’t like sing a bit, talk a bit then sing again then some more small talk THEN SING AGAIN!! Arghh! Maybe it just not my cup of tea, let me know what you think if you have the chance to watch the movie.

Ng – Great idea! Thanks. I shall bounce the idea off TK and see if he is willing to share the cost … ha ha ha.

I have seen one other French movie that also have part singing part acting (8 Women?). I think I am pretty OK with that. Something different I suppose.
